The Committee of 500 is a volunteer-run nonprofit in College Place, Washington that has supported Walla Walla University for over 45 years. Each year our members fund a chosen campus project, gather for Alumni Weekend, and stay connected through quarterly updates. Together, small gifts have added up to more than $2.8 million. How It Works
Members join for $500 a year, and because we run entirely on volunteers, almost none of it is lost to overhead. Each year at Alumni Weekend, members vote together on the project to support, from campus renovations to new equipment. The funds then go directly to Walla Walla University. Simple, transparent, and led by the members themselves.

Where It All Began
Since 1979, the Committee of 500 has done one thing well: helping friends and alumni support Walla Walla University together. What began as a small group of volunteers has grown into a community that has given millions, one modest gift at a time. There is a good story here, and we would love to share it.
Led By Volunteers Who Care
The Committee of 500 is guided by a small board of volunteers, alumni and friends who give their time so more of every gift reaches campus. Leading them is President Frederick Field, a 1976 graduate of Walla Walla University and a retired vascular surgeon. Meet the people behind the mission.
